These dairy cows are not so readily seen nowadays. Many cattle are painted in a cartoonish style but I think they are beautiful, traditional farm animals.  I saw these black and white cattle in a field and painted them in a formation similar to my painting Rough Fell Sheep.

  The background colour to this painting is a warm natural green.
