For this painting, I was inspired by medieval paintings depicting countryside scenes. The wavering hare is looking back, hesitant, deciding which route to take.  Hares can be seen early in the morning here on the fallow fields, before darting into the cover of the tall crops. 
The painting has an off-white, cream coloured background.
